High on Carn Marth, very close to historic Gwennap Pit, right in the heart of West Cornwall, The Gables Cottage is surrounded by fields, stone hedges, moorland and sky.  If you walk out of the gate and along the track opposite, you have immediate access to the Carn—the highest hill in this part of Cornwall, offering breathtaking panoramic views to both coasts and along Cornwall’s length from St Ives to St Austell. The network of mineral tramway tracks extend from here over many miles and from coast to coast, offering opportunities for walking; cycling; painting; discovering Cornwall's rich heritage and spectacular scenery. 

Our quiet surroundings lend themselves to peaceful relaxation, or choose from all of Cornwall’s many and varied attractions. With dozens of wonderful gardens and art galleries to explore; unique places to eat at and visit, and all the coastal attractions of sea, sand, harbours and sea ports—all within easy reach, there will always be more to do than time to do it in!

Approximately a mile from the local shop, pub, fish and chip shop etc in Carharrack with bus service.  5-15 minutes drive to the neighbouring towns of Redruth, Camborne, Falmouth and City of Truro.  Main-line train services from Redruth and Truro.

Horse riding at nearby Chiverton Riding Stables: Swimming from a choice of beaches or indoors at Truro, Carn Brea, Falmouth or Helston.

Surfing at Newquay’s famous Fistral beach as well as Portreath, and Perranporth all within a short drive. (10-40 minutes)
